FAQ

How long should I expect to be in counseling?

The length of time someone should expect to be in therapy can vary depending on several factors, including the nature of the issues being addressed, the type of therapy, and the individual's goals. Ultimately, the duration is individualized and should be discussed with a therapist, as therapy is a collaborative process with flexible timing based on the client’s needs and progress.

What is it like to go to therapy?

Going to therapy can be a positive and rewarding experience, though it's normal to feel nervous or unsure at first. Therapy can be a place to gain clarity, work through tough emotions, and develop skills to improve your mental well-being. The experience may be different for everyone, but it is designed to help you feel supported and empowered.

Do you discuss with parents what happens in their childs sessions?

We communicate regularly with parents and will suggest family therapy if an open dialogue is needed. There is a difference between confidentiality within sessions with children, tweens, teens and young adults. The older your teen becomes the more confidentiality between client and counselor is imperative for a successful and trusting counseling relationship.
